About Oshawa

The lively city of Oshawa resides in Southern ontario along the Lake Ontario shoreline just east of Toronto. The name means “the crossing place” and extends from the Ojibwa term aazhaway. Historically Oshawa was noted as one of the great fur trading points where the aboriginal people exchanged beaver and other animal pelts with the Coureurs des bois in Canada’s early beginning.

As time went on the automotive industry would soon become the new dominant industry of the city and make Oshawa the automotive capital of Canada. General Motors Canada made up much of the city’s economic epicentre and inspired the mottos “The City that Motovates Canada,” and “The City in Motion,” which would be later replaced by their newest motto “Prepare To Be Amazed.”

The city is also home to the famous and lavish Parkwood Estate which housed the founder of General Motors Canada Samuel McLaughlin. The beautiful home is a National Historic Site of Canada and has been featured in many hollywood films such as Studio 54, Chicago, X-Men and Billy Madison.

Additional Facts

A new clean in town
Grocery stores provide a great selection of cleaning products for the maintenance of your windows, but simple household items can provide an equally great clean that will save you time and money. A vinegar solution comprised of liquid soap, white vinegar and water mixed in a spray bottle will provide a streak free clean without the use of any harsh chemicals.

Healthy home means a healthy homeowner
New windows can help keep you and your home dry and healthy. The dampness and moisture build up from homes with poor insulation and air leakage can result in the accumulation of mould in the home. Not only will this effect the health of your home, but it can also lead to illness and respiratory disease if gone unkept. The best way to ensure you and your home are at their optimal health level is to have windows that clean easily and seal out air and moisture.

Give your home a well deserved makeover
When preparing your home for resale it’s good to consider replacing your windows and doors to increase curb appeal and bring value to your home. Not only will it highlight the attractive features of your home but homebuyers will also be attracted to the savings they will gain from energy efficient windows. Windows are important for lowering energy bills and ensuring that the interior of the home is protected from air leakage and condensation that may ruin brick or painted walls.
