About Midland

Is a town in Ontario Canada, located on the south end of Georgian Bay on Lake Huron and has a population of approximately 20,000 full time residents and during the summer months, the population increases to 100,000 with visitors and cottagers.

Midland is considered to be the economic hub of the area with the Midland/Huronia Airport and the Midland Public Hospital as well as an abundance of shops. Tourism would be the strongest employer in the area with a considerable amount of resort hotels and parks.

The weather in Midland is somewhat like the city of Toronto – summers are warm and humid and temperatures can reach approximately 32 C (84 F) during the day and the evenings are often cooler. The winters can be colder with day time lows of up to -20 and wind chills on top of that. Due to the winds blowing off Georgian Bay, the area is subject to whiteouts and drifting snow that can be hazardous driving conditions. There is a lot to see and do in Midland with museums such as Sainte-Marie among the Hurons which is a 17th century Jesuit Mission. If you love nature, the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre is a great place to visit. The marsh is a habitat for Trumpeter Swans which are the symbol of Midland and a statue of one can be seen in the Midland harbour.
