Kate Heron, GTA Coordinator, Diversity and Community Leadership at KPMG
Kate Heron is a 2011 Diversity Fellow and works at KPMG to drive their Community Leader and Diversity strategies in the GTA. Kate focuses on the synergies between the firm's programs, the passions of the employees and the needs in the community. Kate's approach to successful engagement and awareness relies on collaborative stakeholder management, combined with a cross-sectoral approach, to ensure diverse and robust program development.
In plain English perhaps? Kate is a born connector. She demonstrates value in the link between passion and purpose, in addition to the reciprocal value of giving back. Kate built her role from scratch to incorporate her love of relationships combined with her creative out-of-the-box approach, to create real impact in the community. Yep - pretty much dream job material.

Amy Hosotsuji, Event Coordinator, Doors Wide Open
Amy studied Anthropology for her undergrad at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. Throughout her studies, she discovered the common similarities that all of humanity shares. Now she seeks to find the harmony among individuals in and around the cultural dissonance of our time. Born and raised in Toronto, she grew up in a Japanese household. After graduation, she taught ESL English in South Korea and travelled throughout Asia as well as the Caribbean throughout her lifetime. These experiences have fostered her passion in building unity and bringing understanding among individuals and communities, which she deems as us reaching our human potential. This past September, she worked as the overall Programming Assistant for the 5th annual Manifesto Festival, as well as Conference Coordinator and blogger. Yes, the life schedule was a little insane at that point - but all for good reason =)
Currently, working as an event coordinator for Doors Wide Open, she continues to contribute and progress her passions and skills. She hopes to continue cultivating her interests of writing anthropological pieces, participating in international development, making documentaries, getting involved in textile and fashion and most of all bringing people together, across all boundaries.
