Doors Wide Open
On January 24, 2012, Doors Wide Open will introduce Toronto’s youth to the people behind the jobs and help them learn more about the different paths to success.
Doors Wide Open is not your standard career fair. In fact, it's not even about landing a specific job. It's about learning more about the range of career opportunities that are available and the real paths to getting there.
Doors Wide Open will use a speed dating format, with each event participant spending a few minutes with different "mentors".
What this means for youth participants: You can meet several different people from a wide range of fields, and have a bunch of really interesting conversations. Your exposure to different career paths is broader.
What this means for mentors: You can share your story and "mentor" young people about careers without making an extensive time commitment. Over the course of one evening, you will have short but meaningful conversations with several different youth, each one tailored to his or own interests and experience.
